Agiza och Alzery – Sverige har inget lärt
EU:s tre maktcentra rådet, kommissionen och parlamentet diskuterar idag den olagliga verksamhet som USA:s underrättelsetjänst CIA ägnat sig åt i Europa. Bland anklagelserna finns hemliga och olagliga bortföranden och interneringar av fångar.
Rapporter från EU-parlamentet och Europarådet har bland annat kritiserat Sveriges dåvarande socialdemokratiska regering för att egyptierna Ahmed Agiza och Mohammed Alzery brutalt avvisades från Sverige den 18 december 2001 med hjälp av nordamerikansk och egyptisk säkerhetstjänst.
Debatten i EU-parlamentet äger rum samma dag som den svenska migrationsöverdomstolen rekommenderar regeringen att neka Alzery uppehållstillstånd, på hemliga grunder.
– Det framstår som att Sverige inte lärt eller ångrar någonting, säger Jens Holm (v), EU-parlamenteriker och ledamot i parlamentets särskilda CIA-utskott. Regeringen har dock fortfarande chansen att stå upp för de mänskliga rättigheterna och låta Alzery få uppehållstillstånd.
– Det är dags att välja sida, säger Holm. Vill verkligen den borgerliga regeringen delta i CIA:s olagliga agerande under beteckningen ”kriget mot terrorismen”, med hemliga bortföranden, tortyr och domstolsbeslut på hemliga grunder?
Agiza och Alzery utsattes för kränkande och förnedrande behandling redan på Bromma flygplats. Den illegala behandlingen fortsatte under transporten och övergick sedan till tortyr. Under 2004 ställdes Agiza inför rätta i en militärdomstol som dömde honom till 25 års fängelse för medlemskap i en förbjuden organisation. Han fick inte möjlighet att förbereda sitt försvar, att kalla egna vittnen eller att överklaga domen. Han dömdes på bevisning som härstammade från tortyr. Agiza sitter fortfarande i egyptiskt fängelse. Alzery släpptes 2003 och söker nu uppehållstillstånd i Sverige.

(IV) I know it may be hard to believe. However, Ronald Wilson Reagan committed horrible, racist, hate crimes during his presidency.
