I say it is important because the magnitude of the political violence has reached horrifying levels, and something must be done to try to stop this blood bath. As the previous commentator, I am also a Colombian myself, and together with me there are thousands of Colombians who are tired of the lies of the government and of the cruelty with which human rights activists, union workers, peasants, and people who would like to have a more just society; are treated. We should not ignore the over 3 million internally displaced, the thousands of union workers killed, the genocide committed against those who critize the political elit in Colombia. We need to unite our efforts to encourage a political negotiated solution. Unfortunately the government of Uribe is not willing to sit down and talk. Mr. Uribe has, on the contrary, escalated the military conflict and refused to take the social matters and human rights seriously. It is therefore important to try to get the attention of the European Union to observe what is happenning and take the measures needed to put pressure on the Colombian government. As a Colombian citizen I found offensive that a group which kidnapped thousands of kids, that torture hundreds of citizens and kill every year at least 5000 people among hundreds of terrorist attacks against civilians, is considered a political option. Please Mr Jens Holm, grow up and respect the feelings of millions of Colombians who suffered the tragic presence of this infamous group. We don’t need your help. Take care about your business, get documented, LEARN, have a nice life away from our problems, and before defending any thing in your future life, just make a serious research.
